Turkey will freeze negotiations with the EU if the Greek part of
Cyprus takes chairmanship of the union, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet
Davutoglu said, ITAR-TASS reports.
The problem of the island needs to be resolved by in 2012. However,
the Greek part of Cyprus will drag the negotiations out, the minister
claimed.
The European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood
Policy, Stefan Fule, said that Turkish-EU relations may not continue
if Southern Cyprus takes chairmanship of the EU before the problem is
settled.
