Iran will not allow UN human rights reporter to visit

Iran will not allow the UN human rights reports to visit the country,
spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said,
Press TV reports.

Mehmanparast says that human rights is often a topic used as a
political instrument by some "Western states". He underlined that the
UN reporter would escalate tensions in the country.

The UN Council appointed Ahmed Shahidi, former Foreign Minister of the
Maldives, as the special reporter for the human rights in Iran on June
17. Geneva hosted the 16th session of the council on March 24 and
passed a resolution on the special reported.

22 out of 47 council members voted for the resolution, 7 abstained, 14
voted against.
