The Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the ruling coalition will
have meetings on Tuesday and Fridays, the coordinator of the ruling
coalition, David Arytyunyan, said after the third meeting today, News
Armenia reports.
The sides discussed early parliamentary and presidential polls and
fair elections. Arutyunyan said that the regular meetings have nothing
to do with the statement of ANC Leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan on the last
day of fulfilling demands in September.
Arutyunyan said that if the dialogue ends in September, it will hamper
elections. There were reports about police creating obstacles for
opposition members after the latest protests in Yerevan.
The coordinator of the ANC working group, Levon Zurabyan, said that
there were demands for an immediate investigation of violations by the
police before the meeting starts. He said that the ANC will present a
package of proposals on early elections and their legality.
The authorities have been refusing to hold negotiations with the ANC
and early elections. Parliamentary polls will take place in Armenia in
May 2012 and thpresidential election will be held in February 2013.
