The Armenian National Congress (ANC) headed by First President of
Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan has refused to hold the next round of
talks planned for 10 am, ANC spokesman SamvelAbramyan said, RIA
Novosti reports.
ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan said that the congress will clarify its
reasons at a press conference.
Yerevan is hosting talks between the ANC and the ruling coalition.
Early presidential polls were offered in mid-October and parliamentary
polls later.
Armenia will have scheduled parliamentary polls in May 2012 and
presidential in February 2013.
The coalition parties formed a working group consisting of David
Arutyunyan, chairman of the parliamentary commission for legal issues,
and Gagik Minasyan (Republican Party), chairman of the parliamentary
commission for financial-budget issues, Naira Zograbyan, chairman of
the parliamentary commission for European integration, MP Vardan
Bostanzhyan (Prosperous Armenia), Mger Shakhgeldyan and MP Khachik
Arutyunyan (Orinats Yerkir Party).
The ANC delegation is headed by coordinator Levon Zurabyan. It
consists of David Shakhnazaryan, chairman of the ANC central office,
Vaagn Khachatryan, member of the ANC economic commission, Felix
Khachatryan, secretary of the People's Party of Armenia, Samvel
Abramyan, deputy head of the Armenian National Movement.
The Prosperous Armenia and Orinats Yerkir Parties are part of the
Armenian ruling coalition formed on March 21, 2008.
