Serbian President Milorad Dodik had a meeting with Turkish Foreign
Minister Ahmed Davutoglu in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He condemned
Turkey for its policy in the Balkans and anti-Serbian attitude, RIA
Novosti reports.
Davutoglu arrived on August 29 and had meetings with the local
authorities, Foreign Minister Sven Alkalay and High Representative of
BaH, Valentine Intsko.
Davutoglu discussed economic cooperation and called for formation of a
common Bosnian government in the elections of October 3, 2010. He
expressed support for integration into the European Union and NATO and
readiness to cooperate with Balkan states for peace and stability.
Didik reminded that Turkey supported Serbian enemies in the war of
1990. Ankara only supported Muslims interests. It also was the first
state to recognize independence of Kosovo on February 17, 2008.
Dodik will have a meeting in Brussels on September 2. The meeting will
hold discussions on rapprochment with the EU, which were halted in
July due to disagreements on customs issues. The situation in Kosovo
became tense on July 25.
Kosovo covers 15% of Serbian territory. 5-10% of the local population
are Serbians. 81 states have recognized the independence of Kosovo.
