The blockade of Gaza by Israel is in accordance with international
law, the UN commission investigating the attack on Turkey's Freedom
Flotilla in May 2010 said, Vesti.ru reports.
The New York times says that the report is to be published today.
However, the commission says that Turkey was incautious. Most of the
hundreds of people on board the six vessels were peaceful. Israel's
attack caused the deaths of 9 of them.
Concerning the attack on Mavi Marmara by Israeli forces, the
commission believes that a warning must have been given before the
attack. Commandos were forced to defend themselves when they reached
the ship.
The commission investigating the incident had two officials from
Israel and Turkey, it was formed by the UN secretary general in August
2010, and headed by former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jeffrey
Palmer. A report was to have been published in February but was
postponed due to disagreements between Turkey and Israel.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that publication of the
UN report is Israel's last chance for normalizing relations, TRT
reports.
Turkey will implement Plan B unless Israel apologizes.
The plan includes declining the new Israeli Ambassador Gabi Levi,
support for relatives of victims of the attack and minimization of
cooperation with Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a request on August 29
to the UN secretary general to publish the report within 6 days.
