The EU has decided to start talks on simplification of the visa regime with Armenia. The issue will be discussed at a summit of the Eastern Partnership in Warsaw next week, Gunar Vigand, Director of the Administration for the Eastern Partnership program of the EU Foreign Political Service, said in Yerevan, News Armenia reports.
The European Commission decided to start the talks two weeks ago.
Visa prices for Armenians will be reduced, the visa-issuing process for regular visitors will be simplified.
27 heads of states and governments of the EU will meet. President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will attend the talks, as well as heads of five states of the Eastern Partnership.
Yerevan hosted talks on Armenian-EU association on June 19, 2010. A new agreement will be signed for partnership and cooperation in foreign policy, democracy, economic integration, migration and energy.
The Eastern Partnership involves Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. The EU is providing them with 600 million euros in 2009-2013.
