Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldavia (GUAM) have decided to cooperate with the EU and develop energy projects at a meeting in Poland, Moldavian Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Yuri Lyanke said after a meeting of GUAM foreign ministers within the framework of the Eastern Partnership summit, Georgia Online reports.
The primary element of cooperation is economic ties, further efforts toward formation of a free trade zone, fulfillment of the concept of the free transport corridor for organizations and tourism projects and extension of GUAM’s tole in realizing regional energy projects.
Moldavia underlined the role of GUAM as a platform for a political dialogue, development of democracy and human rights protection.
Secretary General of GUAM Valeri Chechelashvili added that the Azerbaijan’s coming chairmanship of the organization will boost cooperation in the energy sector, especially energy security.
