Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has had an interview with three federal TV channels and explained his decision not to run for a second term. He said Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is the most authoritative politician in the country and his ratings are “somewhat higher”, RIA Novosti reports.
Medvedev proposed Putin run for president in March 2012, while Medvedev himself will work in the government.
Commenting on controversies of Medvedev’s earlier statement that he would not rule out his run for second presidential terms and current his speech at the assembly of the United Russia Party, the president said that life introduced special and paradox changes. And if people change their electoral preferences they should be taken into account, Medvedev said.
Medvedev answered questions of the such channels as the First Channel, Russia and NTV. The interview will be broadcast on Friday at 8.30 pm.
The president, leader of the list of the United Russia Party for parliamentary polls, does not plan to go on vacation during the electoral campaign.
He noted that he would make radical changes in the government, should he head it after the polls.
Medvedev also stated that dismissal of Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin is a case of state discipline and nothing else.
