Medvedev registers for parliamentary polls

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived to the Central Electoral Commission and registered as candidate for parliament of the United Russia Party, RIA Novosti reports.


The parliamentary polls will be well-organized, they will demonstrate the interest of Russian citizens for a more modern political system and life.


Medvedev added that the electoral law for parliamentary polls is based on the principles of the Russian Constitution.

There will be 597 candidates for parliamentary polls from 80 regional groups. Members of government are heading 8 regional groups for the first time. This includes Igor Shuvalov (Primorye) and Viktor Zubkov (Volgograd Region), Vice-Premier Igor Sechin (Stavropol Territory), Vyacheslav Volodin (Saratov Region), Alexander Zhukov (Kaliningrad Region), Dmitry Kozak (St. Petersburg), as well as the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev (Perm Territory), and Emergencies Minister Sergey Shoigu (Krasnoyarsk Territory). United Russia members of the Leningrad Region are led by head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergey Naryshkin, ITAR-TASS reports.


The All-Russian People’s Front of Vladimir Putin includes 416 party members and 183 independent candidates.


The United Russia concluded candidate registration as the last political party among the LDPR, Communist Party of Russia and Fair Russia.


The Right Cause handed its registry documents last week, Yabloko – on October 17, Patriots of Russia will hand them today. Failed signatures must not exceed 5%. 10 days will be spent on checking the sheets.
