Eight EU states call for Georgian integration into Europe

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union in Brussels has held a session of 8 EU states where a letter was signed by four European commissioners, initiated by Lithuania. The document was signed by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Romania, RBC reports.


Authors of the letter point out Georgian progress in fulfilling EU recommendations and urge it to start talks on a free trade deal and lifting the visa regime.


Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronis Azubalis noted the need of the EU to help third world states on their way towards democracy. He called for more intensive partnership with Ukraine, Georgia and Moldavia.
