The director of the Russian Center for Public Policy Research, Vladimir Yevseev, in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza said there is a very little possibility of military intervention in Syria at the moment. Yevseev said that Western countries and NATO are not ready yet for direct intervention, because there is no adequate legal support from the UN, while the available support from the League of Arab States (LAS) is clearly insufficient.
Syria's neighbour Turkey, which is also interested in resolving the conflict in Syria, recently proposed establishing a no-fly zone over Syria, but that does not mean that Ankara intends to enter into direct military conflict with its restless neighbor without a resolution from the UN, Yevseev stressed.
The expert believes that LAS is likely to be confined to political support for the opposition in Syria and will not interfere in the conflict.
