More than 50 international observers are monitoring the presidential elections in the semi-recognized republic of South Ossetia, ITAR-TASS reports on Sunday.
As Vestnik Kavkaza previously reported, the second round of presidential elections has started in the republic.
The elections will be monitored by observers from Russia, Germany, Poland, France, Israel and the neighbouring semi-recognized republic of Abkhazia.
South Ossetia is recognized as an independent state by Russia and some other countries, while the US and the EU as well as the majority of the countries of the world, including all the former Soviet republics of the Caucasus, do not recognize South Ossetia's independence.
