Iran expels British ambassador

On November 28 the Iranian Council of Guardians finally approved a bill to expel the British ambassador, Dominick Chilcott, APA reports, citing Agence France-Presse.

After approval of the law came into force the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran is obliged to fulfil it. According to the document, London will not be able to send a replacement for Chilcott, since the Iranians have decided to reduce the level of diplomatic relations with Britain in general. Henceforth the British diplomatic mission in Iran will only be able to have a temporary attorney.

The law also reduces all business and financial relations between Tehran and London to a minimum. All these measures were Iran's response to the new sanctions,

introduced against it by the U.S., Britain and Canada in mid-November after the publication of a UN report on Iran's nuclear program. In this document, IAEA experts concluded that Iran's nuclear research may include a military dimension. "Britain became the object of attack because the U.S. generally doesn't have strong  connections with Iran, and Canada is not a member of the UN Security Council.London has already promised to respond to the Iranian initiative.
