On December 10 an agreement between Georgia and Turkey comes into force, according to which the citizens of these countries will be able to cross the state border without passports, only with a domestic identity card. This was announced today in Tbilisi by the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze, Anspress reports.
"This state border crossing regulations will be beneficial for those citizens of Georgia who have an electronic identity card of the international standard," she said. These new modern ID cards have been being issued since August 1.Since 2006 Georgia and Turkey do not require visas - citizens of one country can arrive without a visa for the other country and stay there for up to 90 days after crossing the state border, as well as use its territory for transit to a third country.
