Russian anti-missile systems carry no threat for Turkey - Ahmed Davutoglu

Formation of the Russian anti-missile systems is not a threat to Turkey, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, PanArmenian.net reports.


The minister added that the anti-missile defenses in Turkey are not a threat for Russia.


Russia plans to install Iskander tactical missiles in several regions if negotiations on the European missile shied with the US should fail. Krasnodar Territory may have missile systems installed.


The Russian president warned on November 23 that the country would cancel the START agreement and leave the disarmament process unless the US abandon plans for anti-missile systems in Europe. The US insists that the European missile shield is not aimed against Russia, but Moscow refuses to believe such statements.


A radar will be built in Turkey by the end of the year, while mobile SM-3 missile interceptors, a center for operative reaction of the anti-missile systems and a radar will open in Romania by 2015. A related deal was signed between Washington and Bucharest in September 2011.
