Russian President Dmitry Medvedev hopes that as a result of the elections to the Duma, the parliament will become "more cheerful."
"The fact that we will have a more fun parliament, makes me happy. We all know that truth is born only in a dispute, no one has a monopoly on the truth," - said Medvedev at a meeting on Monday with members of the Public Committee of his supporters.
Medvedev told his supporters that "the elections were different from what we've seen before." United Russia "got exactly what it has - nothing more and nothing less, and in this sense, these are absolutely honest, fair and democratic elections."
As a sociologist, director of Social and Political Studies of the Levada Center, Boris Dubin told Vestnik Kavkaza the "drop rate" of the popularity of United Russia "has been observed long before the elections and was associated with a variety of circumstances, including the actions of top officials, including the rather cynical castling of September 24, and in general a very strong presence of top officials and party members in power on television. In my opinion, it lead to an opposite effect, rather than mobilizing people for the "United Russia", it alienated it from the party."
According to the sociologist, the results of the election have also been influenced by public protests.
