Kazakhstan will have parliamentary polls on January 15. An additional 38 international observers were accredited, 34 of whom are part of the CIS monitoring mission, four – observers from foreign states, the Kazakh Central Electoral Company said today.
Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza is among the CIS monitors.
The CEC accredited a total of 99 international observers. 46 of them are part of the ODIHR/OSCE, 45- part of the CIS mission, 8 – monitors of five foreign states.
The Chairman of the Kazakh Central Electoral Commission, Kuandyk Turgankulov, met Yevgeny Sloboda, head of the Headquarters of the CIS Monitoring Mission. Turgankulov informed Sloboda about the campaigning.
The monitoring mission is planning to meet representatives of political parties involved in elections and monitor the election procedure to the Kazakh People’s Assembly. The goal is to promote democratic elections.
Sloboda wished a successful electoral process and noted that Kazakhstan organized the monitoring well. The CEC head handed the accreditation document to Sloboda for the parliamentary polls on January 15, 2012.
According to the president’s decree of November 16, 2011, off-year parliamentary polls on party lists will be held on January 15. Elections to the Kazakh People’s Assembly will be held the next day.
