Exposing extremists among migrants is an effective way to fight
terrorism, the deputy envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District
(NCFD) Arkadiy Yedelev told ITAR-TASS.
Yedelev quoted an interview by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev with
ABC News that radicalism, fundamentalism, extremism are common among
some people arriving from abroad. Yedelev said that foreigners
sometimes join underground groups.
He noted that there were cases of militant training in the Pankisi
Gorge in Georgia. Russia is concerned about the militant training
centers in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also said that the situation
in the NCFD region has been under control since the establishment of
the district.
