The recent attempt to discuss recognition of the Armenian Genocide failed in the Bulgarian parliament, News.am reports on Wednesday.
The initiative presented by Bulgarian ultra-nationalist party Ataka was rejected on Wednesday, the news agency cites Sofia Echo as saying.
The newspaper recalls that municipalities of a number of Bulgarian cities, among them Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas and Stara Zagora, have approved resolutions recognizing the Armenian genocide. However, similar measures in parliament failed.
For his part, the leader of the party said it was just an attempt to recognize unpleasant moments in history.
