The Arab League (LAS) has decided to stop sending new monitors to Syria after an incident resulting in the injury of 11 observers, RIA Novosti reports.
LAS monitors from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Morocco and Algiers were attacked in the Syrian city of Latakia on the Mediterranean coast on Monday.
The LAS mission has 165 specialists for security and human rights. They started work in Syria on December 26 and visited a set of cities, including Homs and Daraa, where the most violent clashes between the Syrian opposition and law enforcers take place.
