Irish diplomat Padraig Murphy has become a new OSCE co-chair of the discussions on Georgia in Geneva, Trend reports.
Irish Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore announced the appointment at the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna. He expressed hope that Georgia, Russia, the US, EU, UN and OSCE would achieve stability and security in the Caucasus in the talks.
The Irish diplomat noted that Ireland is chairing the OSCE after Lithuania and will try to find opportunities for long-term settlement of conflicts, including the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
