Talks with the EU on joining the Free Trade Agreement generally last 3 to 5 years, and it is premature to speak about consequences now, when Armenia is only about to announce their start, PanArmenian cites the Armenian Minister of the Economy as saying.
The EU Trade Commission is expected to make a decision in February 2012 on Armenia's competence to commence talks on joining the named agreement within the framework of the Association Agreement.
“3 to 5 years is a decent period for certain changes to take place in the world economy and in the region. Moreover, talks suggest development of pre-conditions and conditions and the final agreement, and this process will begin for both Armenia and Georgia,” Tigran Davtyan told a press conference in Yerevan on January 24.
The third country with which Armenia and Georgia are moving parallel on their way to European integration is Moldova.
According to Davtyan, Armenian companies would rather use their own resources for entering Europe than the platform of any neighboring country.
