Russia, Turkey to continue Nagorno-Karabakh peace process

Russia and Turkey are interested in the fastest resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Ahmet Davutoglu said, 1news.az reports.

The ministers met in Moscow and exchanged views about the situation in South Caucasus. They both agreed that all states of the region should avoid use of force and threats to settle their differences.

Lavrov and Davutoglu emphasized the need for development of humanitarian, cultural and trade-economic ties as a factor of strengthening relations. The sides underlined interest in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed hope that Azerbaijan and Armenia will achieve positive results with mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The two ministers noted that the conflict should be resolved basing on principles of the UN Charter, the Helsinki act and joint statements of heads of the OSCE Minsk Group made in Acqueville in July 2009, Muskoka in June 2010 and Deauville in May 2011.

Lavrov and Davutoglu confirmed the joint statement of Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian presidents on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict made on January 23, 2012.
