The New York Senate has passed a resolution on the tragedy of January 20 in Baku, APA reports.
The document says that the Bloody January (Black January) is the worst punishment the Communist Party ever carried out.
The resolution states that 26,000 Soviet troops entered Baku (Azerbaijan) on January 20, 1990. The Azerbaijanis continued their fight until February. 130 Azerbaijanis died, 5 went missing, 611 were injured, 841 were arrested. Massacres happened in other Soviet republics, such as Kazakhstan (1986) and Georgia (1989), Lithuania (1990).
The US Azerbaijani Network (USAN) initiated the resolution and thanked all senators for support. It is the 7th resolution initiated by the USAN to be passed in the US. Previous resolutions were passed on the Khojaly Massacre, Azerbaijani Genocide and etc.
