Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze gave a speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe today, commenting on the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia . He noted guarantees the state offers if they join Georgia again.
The minister said that the two breakaway republics would gain autonomy, according to European standards or any European Constitution, for example, the one in Northern Ireland.
Vashadze noted that the Georgian government wants to spend finances on security of locals and protect their ethnic identity and historic heritage. He added that Tbilisi is doing its best to help them be less isolated and allow locals to get education and have access to medicine.
