The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has serious doubts regarding the verdict of the Minsk court passed on Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov. Both of them were found guilty of committing the terrorist act in the Minsk subway in April 2011, ITAR-TASS reports.
PACE has sent a letter to the Belarusian authorities asking them to keep them alive. The PACE chairman said the Assembly was against the death penalty under any circumstances.
At the same time, the European parliamentarian said he had serious doubts that Konovalov and Kovalyov were guilty of committing the terrorist act in the Minsk subway.
The Belarusian Supreme Court sentenced Konovalov and Kovalyov to the death penalty. Konovalov and Kovalyov were found guilty of committing a terrorist act in the Minsk subway in April 2011 that killed 15 people and injured over 300 people.
