Saakashvili will address the conference with a speech in which he will touch upon issues important for Georgia and the region in general. In addition, the Georgian president will meet with leaders of various countries.
The Munich Conference was founded in 1962 as "a meeting of defense officials" of the NATO member countries. Currently it is an international discussion forum, which gathers politicians, diplomats, military officers, businessmen, scientists and public figures from over 40 countries.
The conference's agenda includes such topical issues of world politics as combating international terrorism, reform of the UN and NATO, settlement of conflicts in hot spots and strengthening regional and global security.
