The Russian Supreme Court continues discussion of Professor Grigory Yavlinsky's case, Ekho-Moskvy reports on Wednesday.
The founder of the opposition Yabloko party was not registered as a presidential candidate because the Central Electoral Commission said 25 per cent of signatures supporting his nomination were fake or invalid. Professor Yavlinsky applied to the Supreme Court underlining that the Central Electoral Commission had misinterpreted the election law.
An outstanding Russian economist and politician, Professor Yavlinsky was seen by many as the only truly independent candidate to run for Russian president in March.
