Four political meetings will be held in Moscow on february 23. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's supporters will meet at the Frunzenskaya Naberezhnaya. Police will start checking attendants at 11.20 am, although the meeting started 10 minutes earlier. About 30,000 people attend the meeting.
They reached Luzhniki and started entering Luzhnetskaya Naberezhnaya at about 11.45 pm. No more than 100,000 people were permitted to take part.
10 activisits of Levy Front were detained at Frunzenskaya Naberezhnaya for agitating people to vote for Putin, Interfax reports.
Andrey Vorobyov, leader of United Russia, promissed that his party members would take part in supporting Putin. Initial plans were to meet to march from the Tverskaya Zastava Square to Manezhnaya Square. The Moscow Mayor's Office permitted the meeting at an alternate area and reduced the number of permissible attendants from 200,000 to 100,000. Stanislav Govorukhin, head of the pre-electoral headquarters, expressed preference to Luzhniki.
Sergey Kurginyan will have a meeting entitled "Sut Vremeni" at VDNKh at 2-5 pm. Attendants will protest against anti-government outcries of December 10 and 24, 2011 and February 4, 2012, RIA Novosti reports. About 15,000 people will attend.
Communists will meet at the Teatralnaya Square at 1-3 pm. Their march was not permitted. Communists will express support for CPRF leader gennady Zyuganov and mark the 94th anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy. About 5,000 people will attend.
Sergey Udaltsov, leader of Levy Front and member of the organization committee "For Fair Elections",planned to attend the communist meeting. He planned to support Putin in early February.
LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovski will start a meeting at the Pushkinskaya Square at 12-2 pm.About 2,500 people will arrive.
Over 120,000 people will take part in the four political meetings. About 10,000 police officers will enforce security. Meetings were also planned in Vladivostok, Blagoveshensk, Yakutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Magadan and other cities.
