Iran will hold parliamentary polls on March 2.
Experts note the stress on religious values and attention to Western pressure on Iran this campaign, Reuters reports.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei urged the population to vote. Posters with his quotes were seen in Tehran. Ahmadinejad took the same course.
The supreme leader and the president had confrontation when Moslehi, Minister for Intelligence and National Security, was dismissed by Ahmadinejad. Khamenei cancelled the dismissal.
Expert expect a maximum of 60% participating in the voting process. MP Masoud Pezeshkyan said that candidates should urge people at universities and mosques to be more active.
290 Mps will be elected. Over 5400 people introduced themselves as candidates, only 3444 were approved.
A candidate needs to have higher education and be aged 30-75. He needs to have no crime records and be faithful to Islamic traditions.
Elections are held once in 4 years. 260 parties have been registered, only 60% of them are active. 47 are reformative, 35 conservative and 25 moderate.
