Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt expressed to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan his regret about the adoption of the Parliament resolution on the so-called "Armenian genocide," the Trend News reports with reference to the television channel CNN Turk and the press-service of the Turkish premier.
"We as a government, won’t ratify this resolution," - said Reinfeldt during a telephone conversation with Erdogan last night.
According to him, the Swedish government will do everything necessary to ensure that "this groundless document passed by by a one-vote margin" will not affect adversely Swedish relations with Turkey.
In turn, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he expects compensating steps from the government of Sweden.
As it was previously reported by VC, on Thursday evening, the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Swedish Parliament, approved a resolution on the so-called "Armenian genocide " by a one-vote margin. A similar decision was made last week during a meeting of the U.S. House International Relations Committee.
