Kazakhstan does not want the OSCE to monitor its elections in the future, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Kazakhstan on Friday, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan held parliamentary polls on January 15, with over 75% of the population voting. The National Democratic Party Nur Otan (the president’s) got 80.99% of vote, followed by Ak Zhol with 7.47%, Communists with 7.19%.
CIS and SCO monitors called the elections free, open and clear. OSCE observers said that the elections did not meet the democratic standards.
Nazarbayev believes that the OSCE view of the elections was unjust. He added that other CIS states disagreed with the OSCE opinion.
