Russia will not sell S-300 anti-missile complexes to Iran, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.
The sales cannot be realized as long as the sanctions introduced by the UN Security Council are in force.
Russia and Iran signed the S-300 contract in late 2007. Russia was to ship five divisions of S-300MPU-1 worth a total of $800 million. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on fulfillment of the fourth resolution of the UN Security Council of June 9, 2010, banning sales of S-300 complexes, armored vehicles, combat aircraft, helicopters and ships to Iran.
