US President Barack Obama remains 10% ahead of his main competitor Republican Mitt Romney, according to opinion polls by Suffolk University (Boston, Massachusetts), RIA Novosti reports.
47% of the population intends to vote for Obama, 37% for Romney. 46% approve Obama as president, 45% condemn him. 52% show positive attitude towards the president, 38% to Romney.
Reuters said two weeks ago that 53% of the population supported Obama, 43% supported Romney. Social polls of Real Clear Politics and Rasmussen in March said Obama was ahead of Romney by 5% and 3% respectively. The Suffolk University questioned 1070 people on March 21-25. The error margin is 3%.
The four candidates running for president are former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney, ultraconservative former senator of Pensilvania Rick Santorum, conservative and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newton Gingrich and congressman Ron Paul. Obama runs for re-election.
