Foreign ministers of the Arab League (LAS) have prepared new decisions on Syria in Baghdad, Iraqi Foreign Minister Khoshiyar Zibari said, ITAR-TASS reports.
The decisions are based on the ones the Arab League made earlier and the mission of Kofi Annan, special representative of the UN and the league.
The council of LAS foreign ministers urged Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to pass his power to his deputy Faruk ah-Sharaa in January and start democratic reforms in 2 months, stop violence in the country and hold off-year parliamentary and presidential elections.
This time the foreign ministers urge the sides to start dialogue and end hostilities.
The league reduced the points from 40 to 9. Only 10 out of 22 Arab leaders will take part in the upcoming meetings. The ministers discussed a nuclear free Middle East and the formation of a structure to fight terrorism.
