The Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova will investigate a shipment of weapons to Armenia, News-Moldavia reports.
MP Igor Dodon said that it is wrong when the commander-in-chief and the prime minister learn about a deal on sales of weapons after it was signed.
Democrat Dumitru Dyakov said that no harm was caused to the state budget.
An Il-76 with ammunition arrived from Libya to Moldova in September 2011, before flying to Armenia. Defense Minister Vitalie Marinuts said that sales of weapons were legal.
The shipment includes 9В862 and 9В863 "Cobra" missiles, 9В871-3 for "Konkurs-M” worth $60,000 each. They included such missiles as Fagot, Konkurs, Sturm-S and Metis, worth a total of $5 million. The contract was worth $3.25 million.
Moldova sold a Latvian company old ammunition of the National Army using an Il-76 from Benghazi. A contract was signed with Riga.
The Il-76 flew from the Merkulesht Airport on September 13. Armenia denied the information. Armavia said that it owned no Il-76s, press secretary of the company Nana Avetisova said.
