Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has requested the country's Foreign Ministry to call for EU and OSCE observers, the press speaker of the president Manana Mandzhgaladze said, Trend reports.
The official said that Brussels held a joint briefing meeting of the Georgian president and the NATO secretary general.
Mandzhgaladze said that Georgia wants long-term and short-term observers from the EU, the European Parliament, the OSCE and partner states.
Georgia will have parliamentary polls in autumn 2012. According to the new Constitution, which comes into force in 2013, the new prime minister will have more authority than the president.
