Ivanov: constitutional assembly in Russia is currently impractical

The working group of the Kremlin administration has reached a conclusion that the constitutional assembly in Russia would not be necessary in Russia at the moment, the head of the Kremlin administration Sergei Ivanov told reporters, RIA-Novosti reports.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after his meeting with unregistered parties requested to submit proposals on the possibility of preparing a draft federal constitutional law to convene a constitutional assembly. The constitutional assembly is a representative body, specially created for the revision of certain chapters of the Constitution namely Chapters 1, 2 and 9 on the "Foundations of Constitutional Order," "The rights and freedoms of a man and citizen," "Constitutional Amendments and Review of the Constitution").
