Members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have purchased weapons in Russia worth about $500 million, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said, RIA Novosti reports.
CSTO members have advantages when purchasing Russian arms, Bordyuzha clarified, adding that the purchase sum exceeds that of 2010 twofold.
The secretary general noted at the 10th international conference on stability and security of Eurasia that advanced weapons and vehicles are the main purchase.
The CSTO consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It will mark its 20th anniversary on May 15, 2012, the day of signing of the Collective Security treaty.
