Muslims leaders are opposed to lawyer Dagir Khasavov’s idea of forming Shariah courts, Interfax reports.
Talgat Tajuddin, head of the Central Administration of Russian Muslims, said that muftis do not participate in resolving disputes. People address clerical administrations if they have problems with religion, family, heritage.
Albir Krganov, head of Moscow muftis, noted that Shariah courts are practical in religious states, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The Yabloko Party wants to request the Russian prosecutor general’s Office to take measures against lawyer Khasavov. The lawyer threatened to cover Moscow in blood for resisting the court initiative, Yabloko leader Sergey Mitrokhin said on Twitter.
Khasavov said earlier that Russian Muslims do not want an ecclesiastical court and should use the Shariah court, otherwise there would be bloodshed.
