The Israeli structure for combating terrorism of the prime minister’s office has reduced the danger level for visiting Turkey from the maximum to the minimum. This means that Israeli tourists will only be warned to be extra cautious in Turkey.
Alex Selsky, an advisor to the Israeli prime minister, told Vestnik Kavkaza that there are reasons for the decision. Danger was not coming from the Turkish nationalists. The problem was Islamic fundamentalists and radical Islamists.
Israeli tourists visiting Turkey were recommended to behave like ordinary Europeans, not to talk in Hebrew, not to speak about their Jewish identity and to dress the way Europeans do.
Istanbul is still a place for negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, so fundamentalists are not likely to organize terrorist attacks.
The advisor added that there is no progress in Turkish-Israeli relations. But the latest initiative with the danger level is a positive step.
