Azerbaijani ferry built in Croatia

The Ulyanik wharf has put the Barda ferry vessel of Azerbaijan on water for the State Caspian Shipping Company (Kaspar), Trend cites the company’s press speaker Vugar Sadykhov.

Kaspar CEO Aydyn Bashirov and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Croatia Kyamil Khasiyev arrived for the ceremony.

Ulyanik built 8 ferries for the Caspian Sea in 1984-1986. Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who was the First Vice-Premier of the USSR back then, ordered all ferries to be taken to the Caspian Shipping Company. They have been operating in the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor ever since. They deliver cargo from Baku to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan and back.

President Ilham Aliyev continues the policy of Heydar Aliyev.

The second ferry Balaken was built for Kaspar and will be put on water in a month. Both will arrive in Azerbaijan at the end of the year. Each costs €22 million. Their capacity has increased. They may also carry up to 54 carriages.

Azerbaijan and Croatian partners signed a deal using the 2+3 scheme in May 2011. Kaspar has the right to order 3 more vessels.
