Foreign ministers of EU states have met in Brussels on Monday and approved another package of sanctions against Syria, RIA Novosti reports.
The 15th package of sanctions freezes European assets of three Syrians and two companies suspected in financing President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The disorders in Syria have been ongoing for over a year. The UN says that over 9,000 people have died, 230,000 have become refugees and about a million need humanitarian aid.
Syrian authorities say that 3,200 civilians and over 2,500 servicemen and police officers have died in clashes with well-armed militants.
The regime and Syrian free Army have a cease-fire agreement in force, according to the plan of Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN and LAS.
