The NATO summit in Chicago is essential for Georgia in order to fix progress in integration into NATO, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in New York, Georgia Online reports.
The president noted that the current situation is similar to the one in 2008, when NATO failed to grant Georgia a Membership Action Plan in March because of the presidential elections.
Saakashvili emphasized that Russia bribed certain politicians in Georgia that try to visit Brussels and other European capitals to ruin the integration progress.
The Georgian president stressed the importance of the latest statement by the NATO secretary general, who had noted the progress of Georgia in integrating into NATO. Saakashvili reminded that Georgia is assisting in Afghan operations.
