Alina Levitskaya, Director of the Department for Upbringing and Socialization of Children of the Russian Ministry for Education and Science, has become the head of the North Caucasian Federal University based at the North Caucasian State Technical University.
She was appointed for five years, RIA Novosti reports.
Levitskaya has been heading the department since June 2010. The Deputy Chairman of the government of Stavropol Territory, Vasily Balditsyn, said that the university can coexist with other universities, such as SevkavSTU and SSU.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that formation of the university was ordered by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in early 2011. President Dmitry Medvedev approved the idea on July 18, 2011. Putin gave 7 months for the foundation of the university and 10 months for its program to be composed.
Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, said that the Stavropol State University, Stavropol Technological University in Pyatigorsk and other education centers will be part of the university. It will take about 5 years.
The first students will start studies in September 2012 according to Bologna standards. The new university will receive 7 billion rubles for financing of classes until 2015. 6 billion rubles of the sum are federal funds, 1 billion are funds of the region and business.
