Kyrgyzstan has given NATO permission to transit military cargo for its forces in Afghanistan, RIA Novosti reports.
The Kyrgyz International Airport has the Transit Center formed in December 2001. The center has about 1500 US troops and staff for the Enduring Freedom Operation in Afghanistan. The deal on presence of the center expires in autumn 2014.
NATO Secretary General Alexander Vershbow thanked Bishkek for support and emphasized the importance of signing the document for stability in Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev who signed the agreement in Chicago noted that Kyrgyzstan plans to continue cooperating with regional and international organizations to enforce security, peace and stability and support socio-economic development of Afghanistan.
