Putin determines candidates for governors of Sverdlovsk and Irkutsk Regions and Karelia

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin has determined candidates for governing the Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk Regions and Karelia, RIA Novosti reports.

Sergey Yeroshenko, Acting Governor of the Irkutsk Region, is proposed to become the Incumbent Governor. Alexander Khudilainen, acting leader of Karelia, to become the incumbent leader. Andrey Nelidov resigned as Karelia leader on May 22 after 2 years of governing.

Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Acting Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Ural Federal District, is proposed to become the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, replacing Alexander Misharin who resigned on May 14.

Heads of 20 regions have resigned after the parliamentary polls in December. 16 have resigned voluntarily. Moscow Governor Boris Gromov, Tomsk Governor Victor Kress, Omsk Governor Leonid Polezhayev, Leningrad Governor Valery Serdyukov had their terms of office prolonged.
