The Federal Migration Service (FMS) of Russia expects about 100,000 compatriots to arrive, FMS head Constantine Romodanovsky said on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reports.
The service prepared for 32,000 compatriots last year. Only half of them arrived.
Support of compatriots willing to return to Russia is a priority of the new migration policy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated a need for 300,000 compatriots arriving annually. High-skilled foreign specialists and young people are especially needed.
The Sootechestvenniki program has been in force for 6 years. Half of Russian regions take part in it. 68,000 compatriots have arrived mainly from CIS states.
