Japan may pass law on Iranian oil imports

 

Japanese parliament will consider a special bill on insurances of Iranian oil purchases on Friday, Trend reports.

The bill may be passed at the session ending on June 21. Lack of opposition’s support for the project may become an obstacle for the bull. Opposition has the majority in the upper chamber, the Democratic Party has majority in the lower chamber.

The government wants the bill to be passed this month to receive an Iranian tanker. The EU ban on oil imports from Iran comes into force in July.

Japan bought about 9% of Iranian oil exports in 2011. Japan needs to pass the bill to avoid impact on the third economy of the world.
